The Lone Bell Pepper

There is one spot just outside the labyrinth that became overgrown with weeds.  I had tried to grow some vegetables there, but gave up.  When I cleared out the weeds this week, I found one (only one)  bell pepper.  It’s very encouraging.  Perhaps I will plant again next year.

This bucket of too-dry peat moss had been left in the path so that it would collect water while the sprinkler watered the Labyrinth Garden.  I had seen a seed mixed in with the dry peat, but thought the seed was a dud.  Apparently not, as I now have a healthy pumpkin plant.  I will need to plant it before too long.

My first tomato of the season finally turned red.

My first tomato of the season finally turned red.

A while back I showed you my first tomato.  It finally ripened!  My veggie efforts have mostly fallen flat this year.  I have one surviving tomato plant and two surviving bell pepper plants, and one plant of ford beans.  Not exactly a full harvest.  Maybe next year.

The Promise of Tomatoes

My tomato plant took its time in creating little tomatoes.  But I finally have a few green ones starting to grow.  Hopefully I will get to eat them before the rabbits do!

Strawberries turning red

Strawberries turning red

My “Berries Galore” everbearing strawberries are turning red, ready to eat!  I grow these in a giant pot that I recycled.  I have to say I can’t particularly recommend this type of strawberry on taste, but it does seem to live through the summer droughts and winter freezes without too much fuss.
