Grocery Store Roses Bloom Again

March 28, 2010

Pink Grocery Store Rose is back.

I continue to be amazed at the roses that I bought at the grocery store in little 4″ pots.  I really didn’t expect any of them to live and they have thrived in the garden.  This bush made it through the winter, even unprotected in the last snow which I didn’t see coming.

6" or so of snow which fell last night.

OK, I was overly-optimistic about the arrival of Spring.  I was born in Texas and have lived here most of my life, so I have no excuse.  The weather report I saw said we’d have snow but not freezing temperatures so I figured it would melt as it hit the ground.  I didn’t cover the plants.  Mistake.
